Women’s History Month – Women in Senior Care Series

During Women’s History Month, we are profiling several female leaders at Home Matters. They hold many different positions. They come from many different walks of life. But they all have a passion for serving our senior population.

Meet Kristi Edwards

As a stay at home mom with a husband who traveled most of the time for work, Kristi wanted to find a business that she could operate that would allow her husband to be home with their family more. She explored many different businesses before joining the Home Matters brand in 2023. Kristi said the Home Matters values resonated with her and she was excited about the opportunity to have a business that would allow her to help others.

The direct care workforce is 87% female. As a woman, Kristi feels she has a unique ability to empathize with her caregivers in a different way. She has been a young single mom, and knows the struggles her caregivers may be facing. She understands what they need and is motivated to provide a great place to work.

Through her role as a business owner, Kristi aspires to provide other women with opportunities for growth. Whether that’s at her agency, or supporting them with career growth outside of the home care field. Kristi’s advice to aspiring female leaders and entrepreneurs is to be proud of who you are, take ownership of your role, don’t be intimidated and never apologize for taking up space. Even if others in the room are older and have more experience than you, your perspective has value and you bring something to the table.
