Women’s History Month – Women in Senior Care Series
During Women’s History Month, we are profiling several female leaders at Home Matters. They hold many different positions. They come from many different walks of life. But they all have a passion for serving our senior population.
Meet Heidi Rowell
Heidi joined Home Matters Caregiving because she saw an opportunity to be part of a company that puts caregivers first. Starting her career as a certified nursing assistant Heidi saw firsthand how the voice of the caregiver is often ignored. In Home Matters, she saw an opportunity to professionalize the role of the caregiver and provide better care for seniors in need.
As a woman in leadership, Heidi learned to use her natural compassion and curiosity as an asset. She sees herself as a servant leader and believes it is her job to support her team so they can be the best at their jobs.
Heidi advises other aspiring female leaders to be confident, be clear on what you want and need in your career, and don’t be afraid to take the steps to get those things. As a mom of two young children Heidi knows that work life balance looks different for everyone and encourages other women to think about what it means to them.
Heidi has had the opportunity to lead and be led by many incredible women over the course of her career. Healthcare is a female dominated industry at the direct care level, but men still outnumber women in ownership and senior leadership positions. As our COO, Heidi is part of changing that dynamic. Her goal is to be a mentor and inspiration to aspiring female entrepreneurs and leaders.
