Women’s History Month – Women in Senior Care Series
During Women’s History Month, we are profiling several female leaders at Home Matters. They hold many different positions. They come from many different walks of life. But they all have a passion for serving our senior population.
Meet our Founder, Christina Foutch
Christina was motivated to start an in-home care agency to help those who aren’t able to help themselves. She wanted to be an advocate for the senior population, and be there to care for them in the last phase of their life, in the way she would want her own father cared for. Home Matters has allowed her the opportunity to take care of others, while having a flexible schedule to raise her family.
Christina’s approach to leadership comes from her personal experience over a long career. Her goal has been to surround herself with other strong women who she can learn from and work with.
Her advice to other aspiring female entrepreneurs is to do something you love. She believes that without passion for your business success will be hard to come by. She advises other women to know their “why”. Know why you chose the path you are on and keep that why at the center of your company culture.
Christina has had the opportunity to hire and work with hundreds of professional caregivers over the last 17 years. During that time, mentoring and promoting has been at the core of her why. The caregiving population is overwhelmingly female and these women have become a part of the story at Home Matters. She is proud that she has been part of creating career ladders and offering management experience to women who might not have had the opportunity elsewhere. This culture of female empowerment is now being replicated at Home Matters franchises across the country.
