This month we’re delighted to shine our client spotlight on Melissa P., whose easygoing spirit and great stories make her a joy to know.
Melissa was born in Oklahoma but grew up in Newport Beach, California, and California has been home for most of her life, including many years in the Bay Area. Some of her happiest early memories come from time spent on her uncle’s farm, where she loved riding horses. That mix of coastal California and wide-open farm country seems to capture Melissa perfectly: she’s just as at home on the beach as she is out in the country.
Family is a big part of her story. Melissa and her husband have been married for 27 years, and together they raised two daughters. Today one lives in Los Angeles and the other in New York City, giving Melissa a coast-to-coast reason to stay connected.
When it comes to how she spends her time, Melissa keeps things full and fun. She’s a devoted basketball fan and loves settling in with a good western. Music is close to her heart too, both listening to it and playing guitar herself. And whenever she can, she heads for the beach, one of her favorite places to be.
Ask her about holidays and you’ll get a laugh. Melissa admits she doesn’t love most of them, but she’ll happily tell you her favorite: Shark Week. It’s a fitting answer from someone who clearly enjoys doing things her own way.
That same attitude comes through in the wisdom she’d pass on to the younger generation: “Don’t take yourself too seriously.” It’s simple, memorable advice, and coming from Melissa, it feels earned.
As for what she values most about the care she receives from Home Matters, her answer was refreshingly straightforward: the people. It’s the connections and relationships that make the difference, and we feel lucky to have Melissa as part of the Home Matters family.
Thank you, Melissa, for sharing your story with us!
