Our client spotlight for March is Theonie Gilmore!
Theonie was born in 1937 in St. Louis, MO, where she grew up before leaving for college. Theonie attended University of Tulsa where she double majored in music, playing the viola, violin and sang. After graduating college, where she met her husband, they moved to Portland, OR. Theonie spent most of her career teaching music education at the elementary and high school level. She and her husband raised three children in the Portland area where they still reside today.
When asked what wisdom she’d like to bestow on the younger generation, she responded, “Hang in there and keep trying! Life’s tough sometimes but it’s good for your soul to overcome something you wanted to give up on. The lesson is in sticking through the tough times because that’s when you grow and learn.”
When asked how Home Matters has impacted her life, she responded, “My caregiver is so nice to me. She’s caring and fun to be with. She listens to music with me and that makes me feel good. I wouldn’t be able to stay in my home without them.”
