John Baggott has lived a full and meaningful life—one shaped by family, service, and personal passions. He was born in Rochelle, Illinois, and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. One of his favorite childhood memories is climbing the large apple tree in the backyard of his family home.
John has spent most of his adult life in Hillsboro, Oregon, though his journey also took him to the Philippines for two years of service and to Michigan State University for his studies. These experiences helped shape both his life’s path and the perspective he carries today.
A defining moment in John’s life occurred at a Mozart concert, where he met Mary. They shared a dance that evening—and something just clicked. That special connection blossomed into a lasting relationship, now 48 years strong. Together, they’ve built a life grounded in family and shared values, and they have a son named Kyle.
In his free time, John enjoys photography, especially capturing plants and nature scenes. It’s a hobby that allows him to find beauty in the everyday.
When asked what advice he would give to younger generations, John offers a simple, heartfelt message: “Look forward to the future.”
John is grateful for the support he receives from Home Matters Caregiving, especially the reliable care that allows him and Mary to live comfortably and confidently at home.
