Our Story

Home Matters Caregiving was founded in 2007 by Clayton Foutch. Married and business partners, Christina Foutch, OTR, together envisioned a higher level of home care with greater clinical expertise and support for seniors. Christina as an Occupational Therapist who saw the correlation of traumatic brain injuries, which was her specialty in the hospital setting, to the implications of diseases like Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

Together they’ve built a clinical team of Registered Nurse’s, Healthcare Professionals, and an Administrator who all support their caregivers in order to fulfill the company’s mission. It’s a hands-on approach that has earned Home Matters Caregiving the reputation as a top senior care provider in the greater Portland area.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is in-home care?
In-home senior care is a specialized service designed to provide personalized care and support to elderly individuals within the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. It encompasses a range of services that cater to seniors’ unique needs, including assistance with daily activities, medication management, companionship, and more. At Home Matters, we take pride in offering a wide variety of services that allow seniors to maintain their independence while receiving the care they require.
In-home senior care involves assessing the individual needs of seniors and developing a customized care plan. Trained caregivers visit the seniors’ homes at scheduled times to provide the necessary assistance and support. Caregivers assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as provide medication reminders, prepare meals, offer companionship, and help with light housekeeping tasks.
In-home senior care agencies offer a range of services tailored to meet the diverse needs of seniors. These services may include assistance with personal care tasks, such as bathing, grooming, and toileting, medication management, meal planning and preparation, mobility assistance, transportation to appointments, light housekeeping, companionship, and respite care for family caregivers. The specific services provided can be customized based on the individual’s needs and preferences.
In-home care for seniors offers several advantages. It allows seniors to remain in the comfort of their own homes, surrounded by familiar surroundings and cherished memories. In-home care promotes independence and autonomy while ensuring that seniors receive personalized care tailored to their unique needs. It also provides a higher level of one-on-one attention and companionship compared to other care settings, enhancing overall well-being and quality of life.
The cost of in-home senior care can vary depending on factors such as the location, level of care required, and the specific services provided. The cost is typically determined by the number of hours of care needed and any additional specialized services required. According to Genworth Financial Company, the weekly median cost for in-home care is $1,188 based on 44 hours of care per week. It’s recommended to consult with in-home senior care agencies in your area to get a better understanding of the cost structure and discuss payment options or insurance coverage, if applicable.
